Modified Starches
Yellow Dextrin & White Dextrin

Dextrins are low-molecular-weight carbohydrates produced by the hydrolysis of starch and glycogen. Yellow dextrin and white dextrin, categorised as British gum, are examples of dextrins produced through dry heat treatment under acidic conditions. Sahyadri Starch operates two independent sections within its main starch refinery to produce high-quality yellow dextrin and white dextrin, catering to specific customer requirements. These dextrins are soluble in water and find applications in various industries. Yellow dextrin is utilised in remoistenable envelope adhesives, paper tubes, the mining industry as a froth flotation additive, the foundry industry as a green strength additive, in sand casting & the printing industry as a thickener for batik resist dyeing. On the other hand, white dextrin serves as a textile finishing and coating agent to increase weight and stiffness of fabrics. It is also used as a thickening and binding agent in pharmaceuticals and paper coatings, as a pyrotechnic binder and fuel in fireworks, and as a stabilising agent for certain explosive metal azides.

Thin Boiled Starch (Modified Starches)

Modified starches, such as chemical starch (Majilose), Majilose 40 and Tex 40, are prepared by physically or chemically treating native starch to alter its properties. These modified starches find applications as thickening agents, stabilisers, emulsifiers, disintegrants, or binders in various industries, including food, pharmaceuticals, and coated paper. Acid-treated starch, also known as thin boiling starch, is prepared by treating starch or starch granules with inorganic acids, resulting in reduced viscosity. Sahyadri Starch & Industries Pvt. Ltd produces high-quality thin boiled corn starch for the textile industry, meeting customer specifications.
